As society and technology ever-lastingly advances, the need for more energy and resources exponentially increases. We humans, although often unintentionally, have the most detrimental impact on our planet and it is expected that we only have until 2030 before our climate becomes a serious issue. Extremities such as floods, drought and famine will sweep across the globe if we do not act now.
That is why at Tannas, we are doing our part to try and protect our Planet. We have become consciously aware of our impact, and have taken drastic measures to try and neutralise any negative impact we have on the environment. We actively recycle, and provide clients with our own recycling services. We use electric vans to deliver goods and recycling services which removes all fossil fuel emissions from the process and provides a Closed-Loop solution for our clients.
But we thought this was not enough. We decided we needed a way to measure all of our eco-successes to prove to ourselves and others that we are truly trying to have a positive impact on the world.
Which is why Tannas is proud to announce that we have partnered up with The Planet Mark – an organisation set up to help companies reduce their overall carbon footprint in ways that some would never have even thought about.
The Planet Mark is a “certification programme that recognises your commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability”. Their programme has allowed us to track and measure our carbon emissions through means such as waste and water, and Tannas has committed to reducing our net carbon emissions by 2.5% every year.
This certification is just another successful step towards reaching our goal of becoming London’s most Sustainable Supplier. We understand that this goal of ours to some may seem like a marketing ploy, but we truly believe that action needs to be taken by responsible companies such as ourselves.
We would like to thank those at The Planet Mark for working with us and recognising our continued efforts. We hope that we can inspire other companies to follow suit and think about not just today, but tomorrow too.
